Radical Read-in: A Sunday afternoon in Black Achievement Month @Perdu

In collaboration with Black Achievement Month, Perdu invites you to bring reading materials of black authors and join us for a silent collective reading experience. A radical read-in proposes reading together as an activist undertaking by bringing together a fleeting community of people through shared interests or individual experience.

Together you will read in silence for two hours, collectively immersing ourselves in the materials while silently spending time together. In this way, a space is created for us to focus and read — for ourselves, in the presence of others. During the last 30 minutes of the read-in there will be an opportunity to share your thoughts on a passage or sentence you have read.

The editors have assembled a selection of their favorite black authors that we will be sharing with you as an inspiration for this afternoon. There will also be a small selection of books available to buy or borrow. After the read-in we will screen a short film (TBA).
